Teach India is a nation-building initiative (or social initiative) from the Times of India that brings together children in need of education and people who can contribute a little time towards teaching them. It is based on one simple principle: If you have the desire to teach, we will put you in touch with underprivileged children who are willing to learn. With over sixty of India’s committed NGOs, corporates, schools and social organizations already supporting our cause, we now look for selfless individuals to come forward and help change the future of a child forever, by giving just a few hours a week to Teach India
Teach India began as an appeal to fellow citizens who wanted to take a little time out of their busy lives to give something back to society. While we knew all along that this country had quite a few selfless individuals willing to walk that extra mile: nothing could have prepared us for the overwhelming response that actually our call. We received over 90,000 responses and 72000 applications for this initiative and over 63000 volunteers have been offered teaching opportunities so far.
Volunteer enrollment for Delhi, Mumbai, KolKatta, Chennai, Bangalore, Jaipur, Lucknow and Hyderabad for the Teach India initiative is now over. To all of you who stepped and made this cause your own, a big THANK YOU. Your resolve is what has actually given wings to this little idea called Teach India.
